Part One: Initial Consultation
Chris and Cheryl wanted to add something to their Belton property that most homeowners only dream about: a proper detached garage with a dedicated shop.
They came to us with a clear vision: they needed room for two cars and for work, and they wanted it to look like it had always been part of the house.
We scheduled a home visit to walk the property, understand the site, and map out what it would take to make their vision a reality.
From there, we moved into a full design and development phase so Chris and Cheryl could see exactly what they were getting before any construction began.
During the in-home consultation, we learned everything we needed to solve...
No storage or workspace
The goal was a two-car garage with a connected shop that would give them a functional workspace.
Needs to match house
The new garage had to complement the existing home’s brick, stone, siding, and roofline.
A zoning problem
The originally planned footprint would encroach on the city’s building line.
No connecting driveway
The project needed an extended concrete driveway to tie the new structure into the property.
Part Two: The Design, Planning, Permitting
Before breaking ground, we provided conceptual designs and detailed space planning, resolved the zoning setback, and engineered a custom foundation for the site’s expansive clay soils.
Part Three: The Time Schedule
Chris and Cheryl’s project ran from first conversation to final install in just under a year, with the bulk of construction wrapped in about four months.
May - Nov
Design agreement signed, zoning setback resolved, structural engineers engaged, and foundation designed. The final construction proposal was accepted November 24.
Early Dec
Concrete forms laid and termite pre-treatment completed. Pre-pour inspection passed, and the main slab was poured within the same week.
Dec - Jan
Rough framing and roofing were installed to dry in the structure. Windows delivered, insulation installed, and all framing inspections passed.
Jan - Feb
Drywall installed and textured. Exterior brick and stone masonry matched to the home. LVP flooring, interior trim, privacy fence, and mini-split HVAC all completed.
Late Feb
Driveway prepped, inspected, and re-poured within days. We discovered that the wrong garage door model had been installed, so we immediately reordered the correct one.
Mar - Apr
Gutters, window sills, exterior door, and conduit sealing completed. Final city inspection passed on March 23. Finally, we installed the correct garage door and did final touch-ups on April 1.

Hired Steven and his crew for a shower remodel. Very easy to work with and coordinate the job. His crew was very professional and made sure to leave every day as clean and tidy as not to be a burden on us.
They arrived every day at 8. Very happy with the result. The only downside was that the job was quoted 5 to 7 days but ended up being 11 days in total.
