Part One: Initial Consultation
Elwin and Mauve’s backyard patio had great bones: a covered roof, a peaceful view of the pool, and space to entertain.
But without walls, climate control, or enclosed lighting, they could use it comfortably for only a few months each year.
They wanted to build a true indoor-outdoor retreat that felt like a real room of the house. Something with glass walls, sliding doors on both sides, and finishes that matched the warm, welcoming feel of their home’s interior.
After getting in touch, we moved into a walk-through and needs assessment.
That gave us a complete picture of the space and three specific challenges we knew we had to solve before the build could begin.
What we found during the at-home assesment...
Pillars in the way
Pillars around the patio made a wall enclosure impossible without demolition.
Awkward light wiring
Outdoor lights ran from a distant outlet near the pool, creating a mess.
No climate control
The space had no HVAC unit, making it uncomfortable for most of the year.
No clean flooring transition
The new LVP flooring needed to seamlessly transition without trim around the existing brick wall.
Part Two: The Design, Planning, Permitting
Before any work started, we had a solution mapped out for every problem the walkthrough uncovered.
We planned a column demolition and a new perimeter beam, spec’d an independent mini-split, and a new soffit outlet for the lighting. Then, we submitted the permits and designed each phase around the three mandatory city inspections.
Part Three: The Time Schedule
From the first conversation to the final walkthrough, the project took about 9 months. Construction alone took 5 weeks. We kept Elwin and Mauve informed at every phase so there were no surprises, only progress.
July - Oct
Initial outreach, site measurements, and design agreement completed. Team priced out wall configurations and delivered an opening estimate.
Nov - Dec
Formal proposal issued and signed by homeowner. Design selections finalized throughout December (bronze frames confirmed, sliding doors chosen for both sides).
Jan – Early March
Custom TEMO sunroom order confirmed. Pre-construction meeting held, before photos taken, and site prepped for the build.
March
Crew arrived on March 10, containment set up, and existing patio columns demolished. TEMO representative on site to begin panel installation. Rough wood framing was completed concurrently.
March - Early April
Passed electrical and insulation inspections. Drywall hung and textured. Beaded wood ceiling sanded, stained, and clear-coated. LVP flooring was laid, then pulled up and re-laid after client feedback to achieve a flush fit against the brick wall.
April
Electrical fixtures installed. Mini-split HVAC commissioned. Final punch-out on April 17: drywall trimmed, gaps caulked, HVAC drain adjusted, bulbs installed, dumpster removed.

Beaded Wood Ceiling
The existing patio ceiling gave us a canvas to work with, and we made the most of it. The crew installed tongue-and-groove beaded wood panels, then sanded, stained, and clear-coated every board by hand. It’s the kind of finish that turns a sunroom into a lavish retreat, right in the Harker Heights backyard.
A limited lifetime warranty product with custom bronze-frame glass walls and sliding doors on both sides of the room. At around $30,000 for materials alone, it’s a premium investment that delivers the glass-house feel Elwin and Mauve wanted while standing up to Texas heat and weather for the long haul.
Mini-Split HVAC System
A dedicated mini-split system keeps the sunroom comfortable no matter the time of year. Because the unit operates independently, Elwin and Mauve can heat or cool the sunroom without running the main house’s HVAC, keeping energy costs in check.

Hired Steven and his crew for a shower remodel. Very easy to work with and coordinate the job. His crew was very professional and made sure to leave every day as clean and tidy as not to be a burden on us.
They arrived every day at 8. Very happy with the result. The only downside was that the job was quoted 5 to 7 days but ended up being 11 days in total.
